IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING HANDICAPS

ARE YOU COMPETING IN ANY EVENTS THIS SEASON?

Listed below are a few frequently asked questions regarding handicaps.

1. Which scores do I enter?

EACH AND EVERY SCORE AT HOME COURSE OR AWAY.
Adjusted gross scores from all courses with a RCGA Course Rating and Slope Rating, made during an active season, both at home and away MUST be posted by the player along with the appropriate RCGA Course Rating and Slope Rating and the name of the course played. This includes scores in match play, stroke play and multi-ball competitions.

2. How do I adjust my score?

The Equitable Stroke Control(ESC) is the downward adjustment of individual hole scores for handicap purposes in order to make handicaps more representative of a player's potential ability. ESC sets a maximum number that a player can post on any hole depending on the player's Course Handicap.

EQUITABLE STROKE CONTROL
Course Handicap             Max. Number on Any Hole
0 or plus                            1 over par
1 through 18                      2 over par
19 through 32                    3 over par
33 and over                       4 over par

3. Can I enter a 9 hole score?

 YES.

Please see instructions posted on how to enter this into the
computer.

*** There is no restriction on the number of 9 hole scores posted to a player's scoring record. Even if a player plays a majority of 9 hole rounds, that player can still utilize a Handicap Factor.***

4. How many holes do I have to play before it is considered
a valid game?

If 13 or more holes are played, the player must post an 18 hole score. If 7 to 12 holes are played, the player must post a nine-hole score.

5. Which tees should I play on if I want to enter my score?

MEN – White/Blue – 18 holes
White – 9 holes
Blue – 9 holes

WOMEN – Red/Blue – 18 holes
Red – 9 holes
